Who
directs PDX Vox?
Marie Schumacher founded PDX Vox seven years ago as a way of integrating her passions for a cappella singing, vocal performance, psychology, and education. As an undergraduate, she was the musical director, arranger, and business manager for the Harvard-Radcliffe Opportunes, a co-ed a cappella group. She has a master's degree in developmental psychology from U.C. Berkeley, and she taught elementary and middle school for several years before devoting her teaching skills to music instruction. Marie is also a certified Music Together teacher and has studied voice, guitar and piano privately for many years. She has taught singing to adults and children, in both individual and group settings. Marie is also a songwriter, a recording artist and a seasoned performer who has released four CDs of original music. She has played with several bands and worked on numerous
music projects, in addition to her own original work. For more about Marie's music, visit www.marieschumacher.com

Who
are the PDX Vox instructors?
Steven Patton (Monday Group Instructor) has been singing in choral, a cappella and other performing groups since he was in middle school. He has a vocal music degree from Drake University, and while there, he co-directed, performed in and arranged for the men's a cappella quintet, Captain Geech and the Shrimp Shack Shooters. He also sang with and led sectionals for Drake's concert and chamber choir. More recently, he had sung with the Heartsong Carolers in Portland. He currently sings and plays piano in his band, Andrew's Ave., which has toured extensively over the last four years and is preparing to record its second full-length album. This is Steven's first session teaching with PDX Vox.
David Anderson (Wednesday Group Instructor) is an experienced a cappella singer and vocal arranger, as well as a psychologist and educator. While studying at Brigham Young University, David He performed with and arranged for Vocal Point, a men's a cappella group that is competing on the upcoming season of NBC's series, "The Sing-Off." He also co-directed Noteworthy, BYU's female a cappella group (a contestant on the first season of "The Sing-Off"), as well as Jazz Voices, a co-ed group at BYU. Most recently, David is a member of Portland's a cappella quintet Strangers in Harmony, and he has a passion for creating multi-tracked, one-man vocal recordings of his arrangements. David is currently earning his master's in teaching at the Concordia University School of Education. He has been teaching with PDX Vox since January 2010.
Megan Resig (Friday Group Instructor) has a background in a cappella singing, directing and arranging, as well as a B.S. in piano performance and a master's in music therapy. As a freshman at Roberts Wesleyan College, Megan Resig founded the school's first female a cappella group, the Sirens. She directed and arranged for the group for four years. After studying music therapy at Nazareth College of Rochester, Megan co-directed and arranged for the co-ed a cappella group, Cut-Off. As a music therapist, Megan has worked with a wide variety of individuals and groups, including children, elders, and veterans. She has also worked as a private piano and voice teacher, and she has taught extensively about the health benefits of drumming. This is Megan's first session teaching with PDX Vox.
