Portland’s A Cappella Program

Semester Program

Our semester program runs September-December and February-May. Each group of 20–25 singers meets weekly from 7:00–9:00 for 14 weeks (including a 1-week mid-semester break), to learn 5–6 songs.

Our classes are intended for singers with a variety of experience and skills, though some experience singing in harmony with others is recommended. We don’t hold auditions.

Cost and Payment
Tuition is $325 per semester. Monthly payment plans are available upon request, and we are able to offer a limited number of partial scholarships each semester.

Location
Currently, all choirs rehearse in space that we rent from St. Philip Neri’s classroom and admin building at SE 16th and Division.

Times
All groups meet from 7:00–9:00 pm.

“Free Bird” Package for returning singers

Our "Free Bird" package is intended for singers who have experience with our choir program, but can't commit to a weekly group at this time. You will learn and participate in the all-group songs by attending the rehearsals listed below. This format will call for some work practicing on your own with rehearsal recordings.

Free Bird Rehearsal Schedule (5 meetings plus the performances):

  • Retreat and Kick-Off for All Groups: Saturday Feb 7, 2:00–5:00 pm

  • Week 4: You’ll be invited to rehearse with any of the weekly groups of your choice from 7–9pm.

  • Mid-Semester Combined Group Rehearsal: 2:00-4:00 on March 14th

  • Week 9–10: You’ll be invited to join one or more of the weekly groups on stage to sing the All-Group songs during their mini concert at a retirement home.

  • End-of-Semester Show for All Groups: 4:00 - 5:30 PM May 2nd

Cost and Payment
Free Bird program for returning singers costs $100 for the semester (fall and spring)
